title: WIND ENERGY ASSESMENT BY NORWEGIAN WIND ATLAS METHOD

    submitted by user: zarestevanovic
Abstract text Wind power assessment in complex terrain is very demanding task. Modeling wind conditions can be done by standard linear models, which unfortunatelly does not sufficiently reproduce wind conditions in complex terrain, ecpecially on leewaed sides of terrain slopes, (representative of those models is the one used in WAsP – Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program). Even anemometer measurements directly at a wind turbine’s site do not necessarily deliver the results needed for prediction calculations, as extrapolations of wind speed to hub height is tricky. In the full model, turbulence is modeled by modified two-equations k- model for neutral atmospheric boundary layer conditios, written in general curvelinear nonorthogonal coordinate system. The full sets of conservation equations are numericaly solved by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique.
